The Rampton Shop and Garage is situated in the quaint little village of Rampton and is comprised of an Off licence, Petrol station & General store. Rampton village itself is close to the River Trent and to Rampton Hospital.

Here's a little history of The Sheppard's arrival on Rampton village…

Richard & Linda's dream was to have their own garage and have something to pass on to Their Children. Richard and Linda moved from London in 1973 to a quaint cottage and premises which consisted of three petrol pumps, a shed which housed cycle repair equipment and sundry bulbs & filters, etc.. for cars. Richard repaired cars and lawnmowers to start with until his reputation was established.

In 1976 Linda started the village shop after requests from customers to sell more than petrol. So they originally sold four types of chocolate and four brands of cigarettes and it escalated over time.

Their first child Aubrey was born in 1973 and the second child Rebecca was born in 1975.

Business started to pick up and the shop took off. The shop has been extended a number of times to fulfil all the needs for the community. The shop started selling newspapers in 1983, now we deliver to 15 surrounding villages. The garage and shop has tried to move with the times.

Aubrey decided to follow his father and grandfather's footsteps by becoming a mechanic. He showed signs of his admiration of cars from watching his father work on them and in playing mechanics with his Tonka toys. So when he left school he went to a local Ford garage to start his apprenticeship.

The garage was creating too much work for Richard alone, so Aubrey decided to work with his father, continuing his City & Guilds in mechanics. Aubrey completed his course over three years. He then decided to advance his knowledge by doing another City & Guilds 1 & 2 and NVQ levels 1,2,3 in bodywork panel beating and painting. Aubrey was made a partner for his 21st birthday. Aubrey married Sarah Hartley in 1999 and they have had a little boy called Elliott in 2002.

Rebecca has always helped in the shop while she continued through education, Rebecca Completed her A levels in 1992, then followed her creative side and did a foundation course in Art and Design before doing a B A Honours degree in Animation. When she completed her degree she went to London and did some commercials, then got a break to go work at Hot Animation (where they film Bob the Builder etc.) She then moved more locally and worked at an inflatable company designing and illustrating bouncy castles. Rebecca also started to run workshops at museums and galleries for children and illustrating children's bedrooms. In February 2004 Rebecca decided to corporate her workshops and children's interiors while managing the family business.
